So I got some rust that I am gonna remove from the hood and roof of my 88 ranger, I am wondering if there is any issues with leaving those spots primered till i get the whole truck painted. This will probably have to stay primered and i don't want more rust issues

The only problem with primer is its designed to give you a basically moisture free surface to paint, when you are ready to paint you need to sand and reprimer a couple hours before you paint. primer sits a collects all the moisture around it if left over time. Its ok for a cheap paint job and to leave the way it is, but if you dont do fresh sanded primer and then paint same day you could be facing rust issues even more down the road. Least thats the way i was taught.
