EGR question

working on a 4.0 swap,

the colorado emissions tech. center says that in 1994 the 4.0L OHV engine only came with EGR, can anyone confirm this for me?

my ranger service manual says that there were both, non-EGR(federal emissions) and EGR(calif emissions) in 1994..

the emissions tech guys says i need to go by federal emissions .....

this is driving me crazy. haha. hopefully some of you techies got an idea.

im not sure how i can prove to them otherwise.

i will try them tomorrow, i was on the phone with the emissions tech guys at about 450 this evening

I have a 94 4.0. Neither exhaust manifold has an EGR pipe on it nor does the intake have an EGR valve on it.
I would have to say it was available without one, unless it is hidden in the oil pan or something.

well, i have to admit, this whole EGR thing, is kind of a cluster %$#$, figuring out if they did or did not have one, i gave up and am just building an engine with an EGR, that way i can satisfy the needs of the colorado emissions clowns.
