For the cost of headers for a 2.9 (other than the cheap ass pacesetters, etc)
you could probably swap in a 4.0 for much better powergain.

I'm not exactly sure what my 4.0 swap cost all together, but I'm SURE it's less than the retail price of a pair of JBA headers for a 2.9.

Right on,now will they help cut down on the heat,I was thinkin' of the pacesetter's,nothin' fancy, also lookin' to put a better exhaust on it also..It should have a better tone with'em right,my old k5 had headers and it sounded nice but just not sure with the 2nine.I'm not looking to spend 600 on jba's or the f'in 4L swap, just wonderin',thanks.:D

One of the things a manifold does is to contain the heat and send it thru the tail pipe and to the outside..
The more pipes and exterior surface there is the more heat loss...into the engine compartment. For sure the underhood temp will go up when adding headers.

As for the temp of the engine itself, we WANT it to be around 210/220*! That's where it can run best with modern computers and modern oil..
