I am in the process of buying a real clean 2008 2WD Ranger Supercab from my place of work, real nice contractors locking shell on it with ladder racks. 2.3 liter automatic, all white. (My favorite) 167,000 miles, $2,5000~ I think that's pretty fair. (Our trucks are all maintained really well/ fleet serviced)
So I'm an avid outdoorsman, so I want to maximize the use of my new rig.
Camper shell is staying on, I will likely replace the factory rear shocks with air shocks, I tow from time to time, and the shell makes the back of these trucks spongy~ and that won't do. (The small lift I get from the air shocks is likely all I will need out back) I want additional ground clearance up front.
What are my options on the front suspension? I don't jump or any of that silly nonsense, just an occasional spirited trip down a heavily mud- rutted strip mine road~ especially spirited due to this buggar being 2WD vs 4WD.
I also eventually would like to lock the rear end up. I have had an ARB air locker on a 4Runner, I won't have another, I had no problems.. But it is IMO totally unnecessarily complicated with multiple points for failure.. I want a mechanical rear locker, any opinions?
So, a little lift/ locker out back, any Ranger newb comments welcomed. I have never owned a Ranger.
