Hi just bought a 98 Ford Ranger XLT in need of some suspension TLC for daily transport and hauling some of my gear.
I'm looking forward to learning more about this truck; my past vehicle-forum experiences were for a 94 Thunderbird and a 96 Dakota Sport, both of which I still own. The Tbird is my slightly modded (gears, trans, converter, etc.) daily driver but rotting away as we speak (Wisconsin, y'know) and the Dakota is strictly a Street/Strip playtoy.
The Ranger runs great, really good fuel mpg with the 2.5L/5 speed and the seemingly ridiculous rear gear ratio that almost has no use for 4th and 5th. It's practically idling at 60 mph and won't hold that speed uphill.
The previous owner changed out the rear axle, so I have no idea yet if it's the stock ratio or not. I may have to change that ratio, but first I need to get the suspension back in order.
