I am aware that it is basically impossible to diagnose an issue through the internet but I'm at a loss, so before I buy new CV axles, I'd like to at least give it a go.
I have a '08 4x4 sport, with a key and shackle lift, nowhere near maxed out. I started to notice a slight humming/rubbing sound and a loud pop when I go in reverse with the wheel cranked, like when I'm parking or backing out of the drive. The humming/rubbing goes away after about 25-30mph. When I got the truck about 10k (now at 156k) miles ago I replaced all the bushing, tie rod ends, ball joint, upper arms, shocks, everything that is basically replaceable in the front except the bearing/housing and the CVs. my question is Does this sound like a CV issue or a bearing issue, or maybe both?????
I'm thinking about getting some extended travel CV axels and I already have the bearings. I was just going to have the mechanic swap it out when he puts my new tires on.
