First one that I’ve seen over 200k. I have a 2024 on order with the 2.3 and wondering if I should wait on the 2.7. I think the 2.3 will be fine after seeing this one.

The 2.3 has plenty of power and is a good engine as long as you take care of it and do preventative maintenance.

There is nothing wrong with the 2.7 either. If you tow or haul a lot, especially in mountainous terrain, it might be the better choice since engine braking is a bit of a weak point with the 2.3.

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
In the 6g bronco community.... everyone who has motor issues has the 2.7 🙂

Cam phaser replacements all over the place, requiring the entire motor to come out.

Super glad I went 2.3/10spd.

Change the oil every 5000 miles and not 10,000 like the manual says. Replace the oil lines to the turbo at 100,000 miles. They have thimble-sized filter screens on them which will clog over time, especially if you go to the max mileage on every oil change. See FordTechMakaluoco or whatever his name is on YouTube.

You got it close enough for the channel to be found.

We've had great success with the 2.3L They are tried and true. Great little powerhouse. We change oil & filter every 5,000 miles...religiously.

As I live in Phoenix, my next point will likely garner me some feedback, but, I stand by it for MY environment and driving style. We changed our transmission fluid at 25,000. New filter and deeper metal transmission pan versus the original plastic pan. Enjoy!

Can you post a link to that aftermarket tranny pan? Does it have a drain?

There's at least two options... one made by PPE and one made by Mishimoto. Both have drains.. around 300$.

Does the 10-speed tranny have a dipstick? If not, how do you know how much fluid to put in after installing the new pan?

It does indeed have a dipstick.... or rather.... a dip-STUB. It doesn't protrude up into the engine bay like they used to on vehicles from yester-year.. but its there. An inch or two tall, on the passengers side of the transmission... conveniently an inch or two from the downpipe lol.

I say conveniently in a very sarcastic manner mind you.. trans fluid needs to be checked while HOT.. and with the dipstick where it is.. Unless you have little Itty bitty baby hands.. your probably going to burn yourself on the exhaust trying to get at it.

There are though... a couple options for a "full length" dipstick that DOES come up into the engine bay for ACTUAL convenience.

B&M makes one, but the cost of admission for theirs is a bit outrageous IMO. They're real proud of it apparently. I believe there's also a smaller company that offers one for less than half of the B&M.. unsure the name of the company.

I just looked up that PPE tranny pan. Looks very nice. Going to put that on my Wish List. Texas summers are HOT.

When you replaced the Pan, did you reuse the gasket, or replace?
