Anyone who has a slightly to well worked 2.8 still use the stock fuel pump? I feel like my fuel pump is not keeping up with my motor. The fuel level in my clear fuel filter changes radically based on how I drive. Lots of idle almost empty. Hard and fast almost empty, slow and steady, nice and full. Is this normal?

If your not stumbling I wouldnt worry about it your not using pressure as much as volume I am thinking more of a small leak in the suction tube the more the pump works the more air getting into the filter try snugging on the in to the pump and the fitting coming out of the tank it wouldn`t be on the line from the pump or you would smell fuel.

i ran a quadrajet on a bored out 2.8 with duraspark swap, timing way too advanced, and a flowmaster with no cat.

never had fuel starvation, and fuel pump was stock.

Seems to me I remember reading the stock pump should flow something like 2 gallons per minute unrestricted. I kinda doubt a mild 2.8 can swallow 2 gpm.
Of course that was for a NEW pump. If your current pump is 25 years old, or is a reman unit, it may not be pumping at it's full potential.
