How to replace rear brake anchor pin?

The tip on the anchor pin that hold the rear brake springs in place broke off the on 2004 Ranger 4x4 with 10" brakes. How do you replace this anchor pin

sorry, there's no easy fix

get a new or used backing plate, but that involves pulling the axle shaft.
drill a hole in the big part of the pin, pound a hardened smaller bolt into it. not sure how long that would last.
that big pin is probably welded on, so it won't come off easily.
have a shop weld a bolt on, but that means getting the truck to a shop without rear brakes. put a plug on the line, and drive VERY carefully to a shop.

good luck.

I would bite the bullet and pull the axle and replace the backing plate. Messing around with the brakes (doing shade tree repairs) would worry me every time I drove it.
