89 ranger.2 wheel drive, 2.3.A buddy of mine advised me to cut 1 and a half coils off the front end and relocate the rear axle from under the springs to on top of the springs.Says it will give me 3 and a half to 4 inches of drop.I can understand the drop, but is it safe? This may be my toy but I do cart my 3 year old and my 1 year old around in this thing quite frequently.Any help is much appreciated.I need all I can get.Thanks.

Well as long as everything is done properly it would be just fine. But with the drop you explained might not be the best for you.

I would only recomend about one coil being cut out for the front and flipping the rear shackles. That should drop your truck to be about level and with a good drop shock you will be good to go. With this type of work you should get about 2in all the way around.

However if you are wanting to go lower you are going to need to buy a complete drop kit, With drop I beams and camber eccentrics. I believ DJM has a kit for your truck thats a 3/4 drop.

And you can always go lower with the right setup. But I would recomend going with a drop kit now and save yourself from haveing to do things twice, because you know, as well as everyone else, you will always want to go lower.

Good luck and hey :worthless:

i ended up cutting 1 coil out of the front, and flipping the axle in the rear.IT gave me exactly what i was looking for in dropping it.Really agressive look and it handles like a dream now.I'll get pics as soon as my camera stops hating my computer. Thanks for the help.
