it was time for some new ball joints in my truck. :icon_rofl:

The steering felt fine but one day I noticed that the tires were leaning out, on the bottom. It also had developed a squeak when I'd turn the wheel while stationary.

Put the bottom ball joints in, on both side, and it's like driving a new truck. The top ball joints were fine. They felt a little more slack than the new ones.

I replace all at the same time (only one upper was bad) and I put in the Moog ones with the zerk fittings so I could lube them up!!!! I did this 5 years ago and they are still like new. I am so glad that someone on this site said to use the Moog ball joints!! They are really great!!!

Well gator, I had to use all my training as a front end tech, and think about it long and hard, but I have come to the conclusion that.....

your ball joints are shot.

My luck with Moog wasn't so hot. Spicer (a.k.a. Raybestos Professional Series) so far has worked much better for me, at least for earlier model axles.

It's way different... rides smoother but I feel certain "bumps" and it makes me paranoid that something is about to fall out. :annoyed:

When I got home from work, yesterday, I jacked it up and "shook" the tires, just to settle my paranoia. Everything was fine. :icon_cheers:

I'm putting in a new transmission, in the next couple of weeks, and that'll have my blood pressure through the roof worrying about the damn thing until I'm convinced that it's fine.
