Anyone interested in a step-by-step rebuild of the M5OD?

If I do it, I'll do it WITH pics.

Please post here if you want one!

If you include inspection steps, it would be useful, and I'll suggest posting it even if no one else expresses interest (though they will).

But that's the hard part. The rest can be figured out, especially with hints from AllanD's field disassembly post.

Note that it's not a rebuild if it doesn't include inspection. It's a teardown and reassembly. But that's kinda like describing how to drive by saying you get in the driver's seat and then you get out.

MAKG, I have already posted what I call, an "updated" thread (with pics) of AllanD's field disassembly. http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13262

Well, I can show how to know if a part needs replaced or not, and that in itself is a gray area cause a part that I may say is bad is something another may say is still useable.

Case in point...I have a 2nd gear that the cast syncro ring has broken off of, and as the trans spun, it rewelded itself out of sync. This is not something one would see unless they paid attention as the trans was disassembled.

So I will be sure I include pics of bad parts, and explain why I would not re-use them. Some will be obvious, and some will not, though I will point out WHY I am tossing them out as "bad parts".

This sounds VERY useful to me.

Fire away.

I'll "sticky" it here, or you can submit it to the tech library, or both.

I would really be thankful if you did this complete rebuild article. It's really hard to find any help around here. Thanks for the offer.

Very interested in this tech article. Perhaps you can see if Bob Ayers lives near by and can help you out with the pics?
