I have no clue. Never replaced a pinion seal before. That's why I'm asking. But I'll do the seal and see how that works. So after messing with measurements all day, I still wasn't happy with how inaccurate it was. I got OCD issues lol and 1/16th off will bother me. So I came up with this

It's a jig I designed by drilling 2 holes through this angle iron exactly 39" apart. Now I just gotta set my pinion angle and tack it together

so i called my local driveline shop. looks like my leak from the pinion nut is just from the splines and ultra black should solve my problem, i hope. relieved that i dont have to tear into the axle and mess with the bearing preload and whatnot.

lastnight it was pure darkness welding my perches...went to inspect my work today and it looks like pure ass haha. so i will be grinding that off and retacking it before sending it off to get burned it.

next task, breather hose has been missing for what seemed to be a few years. whats the best way to flush out the axle tubes so theres no debris when i put fresh oil?
ps: already drained and diff cover removed

Get a small cylinder hone with a loooong extension. and use some gear oil... use brake clean to flush it out. Set the axle up vertical w/ the axle shaft out and go to town.

I'll try that. I don't think there's gunk in there to extend of needing a hone. I think it's just dust and minor dirt, but I'll find out soon enough

Perches are tacked and getting fully welded on Monday. Then gonna paint and reinstall my rear axle and start on the front. Haven't figured out the ebrake setup. Still doing research but so far no luck

Holy crap dude. That's insane. $300 for calipers? I'm gonna try and adapt my ranger ebrake cable to the d60 drum, if not, junkyard calipers it is.

I'll do some searching and see what I can't find.

I just went and double checked my angle on my perches and one side seems to be about 1 degree off. How bad is this? I tried to break off the mount and redo it, but I put the tack so far in that I can't reach it. Only way is to cut off the mount and buy new ones

Not a huge update, but it's something. Got my axle 90% done. All painted and ready to go in. Just waiting for my axle shaft socket to arrive in the mail so that I can attach my ranger ebrake cable to the d60 drum and replace shoes and wheel cylinder. Also got my bumper painted, just waiting for a buyer. Rear bumper sold last week.

While waiting for my tool, I've decided to begin boxing in my frame horns. 3x3 1/4" angle iron cut up and made to saddle the front horns. Almost cut off the whole front end and slid a piece of 2x4 in there, but this is much simpler.

Perfect fit
Driver side...

Pass side...

Gonna weld the crap out of it when I'm done. Gonna go crazy with the welds. Hopefully will be bomb proof when I'm done, to make up for not replacing the whole crumple zone with a 2x4.

Anyway... That's all for now
