Got a job as an RA this year at my college and so now instead of sharing my roommate's TV, I will be living by myself... so I will need to pick up my own TV.

Really interested in internet ready tv's... seems fun and if possible (this is a question) I would want to hook up a wireless keyboard and mouse to basically make it a huge internet browser and just use my laptop for homework, etc.

Looking for a 32"... not any smaller
Don't need 1080
Don't need 120hz

As far as anything else... I'm open to it I suppose!

I'm looking to spend $350 or less.. somewhere around there.

I'd rather stick with bigger name brands, just for more trust (Sony, Vizio, LG, Samsung, etc)

Anybody have experience with the Vizio internet apps? Looks awesome, but can't find a list of the apps additional to facebook, netflix, etc.

I bought an HD TV 1080 and 42 inch at Walmart for under $500 out the door with a three year extended warranty this January. One year store Warranty and three year extended warranty and we really love this TV. It is a Sanyo. What a picture. You got to look for deals. HH Greg, Walmart and Best Buy. Look for the Sunday paper ads this week and see what you can get a deal on. Don't be afraid to go in and bicker with a salesman as we did. We just said this is what we want and this is want we want to pay for it out the door. We got it.

Seeing as how you live in a dorm, I think you're nuts wanting a 32" TV. I've seen it done in dorm rooms, and it's out of place and takes up too much room. I highly recommend the 22" Vizio Razer, I've got one for video games and it's excellent. If you want it to do internet stuff, just get an EEEbox and hook it up, you'll also be able to watch high definition movies using the box. It has the hookups necessary for using it as a computer monitor and everything. Internet ready TV's are a waste of time, in a year's time the regular TV will be more appealing seeing as how your other TV will be out of date.

IMO, don't get the internet TV. b/c i figured out awhile back i want my tv and internet seperate lol.

if i'm watching tv, i wanna be on TRS also.... if i'm on TRS, i wanna be watching tv also...

if i want netflix, i have an xbox 360. i'm almost certain you have an xbox or ps3...

so just get a good tv. IMO, Vizio is bang for buck! and don't worry about the internet tv stuff, buy an internet bluray player or something if you just MUST have the internet tv

Yeah, 4.0 is right. Having the TV and interwebz on the same device sux.

I can't tell you how often I wish I had a second TV to play Xbox and watch TV at the same time.

And yes, I can (and do) analyze and hate myself for that.

Depends on the size of the room. I have a 32" LED tv I had in my room last year and it was perfect. This year though I got a house with 2 other people and I bought a 42" 1080 plasma for the living room. Its internet ready but I wouldnt want to use it as a computer. Im only using it for the netflix really. Most tvs now days you can easily hook up a computer too and use it as a monitor. I hook my laptop to my tv with HDMI cable and use a wireless keyboard and mouse.

:EDIT: Another note on internet ready tv's, alot of them dont come ready for wireless. I know on mine it can either be hooked up with an ethernet cable or you can buy a $90 wireless adapter

Walmart has salesmen where you live? Holy hell Stray, you live in a magical place where the Autozoners know what they are doing and Walmart has salesmen can adjust pricing. If you tell me the Wendy's gives out free Frosties I might have to move....

EDIT: Also, I have a 32 inch 1080i Olevia that I like a lot. Also have two 37 inch Sylvania's that are 720P, but one shit the bed on me a couple weeks ago.

You don't have salesman at your Walmart in the Electronics section?? We got our cell phones there too. They were so helpful!! Lol, yea, the Autozone guys here are rally great here like I say. I don't really like to go to auto parts places but this Autozone is the only place I will go!! At least there is some place where they actually know what they are doing!!! I don't do fast food, but I am sure I can walk into a place and they will give me a Frostie because I am the Stray!!! lol

Well out here in the real world Wal-Mart has goobs. They put the more acne-riddled goobs in the electronics area and call them "specialists".

IME these were the guys that couldn't hack it at Best-Try.

Ill ask my brother when he gets home, he knows quite a bit about tvs and he would be able to tell you what is a good deal.

No sir. We have something like this:

Well out here in the real world Wal-Mart has goobs. They put the more acne-riddled goobs in the electronics area and call them "specialists".
Only, I don't know that they have a label like "specialist". They can barely run the damn cash register. Asking them about electronics is something to the tune of "uh, what does it say on the box? - if it doesn't say there, then I don't know". I've asked them to match their own prices off of their damn website, and they say "you'll have to buy it there because we don't match our web prices".

Well I am an RA, so it'll be the whole room to myself. The 32" will be good, and I also would rather invest in a slightly bigger TV now, instead of buying a smaller one now, and buying another one when i move out in 2 years, even though it may be outdated.

Also, I don't have a ps3 or an xbox guys. So the internet ready TV would be nice for netflix or hulu, etc. And being in a dorm room, I will have an ethernet that I can hook up to the tv in case it isn't wireless ready.

Keep an eye on http://www.woot.com

Bought a couple of 22" Vizio for less than $189 and a 32" Vizio for $234. These were pre-razor and refurbs. The 32" sees thousands of hours of Xbox use and my son uses a wireless keyboard for internet access. IMHO, you'd be better off using your laptop and the TV/keyboard setup for browsing and Netflix.

to those who say to stick away from the internet TV's... I figure if I don't like it, I can just not use it. Turn the wifi off, don't hook up ethernet, and just use it as a TV.
