Hi all, I am a long time lurker of the thread (member since '13) and realizing that I have not yet posted, so here goes my first.

Long story short, I previously owned a 96 V6 4x4 5spd as my first vehicle for about 6 years and for multiple reasons it was sold and I am now leasing a focus. Thankfully the lease is coming to an end and I am beginning to look around for my next vehicle and im thinking of another ranger. Looking to get another V6 5spd 4x4 and am curious as to what year ranger you all would recommend? Looking for max amount of miles, max acceptable wear, price youd pay etc? Basically if you were looking for a new(used) ranger, what would be your ideal buy.

Here is one thats at the top of my list currently:

I appreciate any and all feedback and apologize if this is in the wrong section! (yes I did read the "read before you buy" post)

Looks like a good choice. I thought the price was high but according to kbb it is on par. Have a good mechanic thoroughly check it out.

Just keep looking. Hopefully, the right truck will come along. Good Luck! Just research the daylights out of anything you may be interested in.

When my wife bought an '02 Jeep Liberty I read everything I could find and read every post on some jeep forums. I became very acquainted with all the good and the bad of her model.
Been a good, dependable rig for her.

I don't think you can go wrong with a 93-97. The newer ones are OK trucks too, I am just not really a huge fan of the SOHC 4.0 and the IFS found in 98-up...although they have more power and ride better.

I'll have a '98 extended cab, 3.0 5 speed 4x4 for sale here in a month or so if you feel like driving to South Dakota :D

If I were to begin the search for a new to me Ranger today I would be looking for a 97. That is the only year I would be looking for. It is the last year of the best mechanical setup, and the front clip and rear lights can be upgraded to the last body style, if you wanted to do that, to make it look like one of the last years.
