Do you have to remove the lower intake to take off the heads? If so how do I do it? Im very new to working on engines.

Yes. Take off anything attached to the upper intake. Then take out the bolts and take off the intake.

Bronco accellerating problems need help.

I just bought a 1987 bronco II 5 speed manual, wih the 3.9 and im having problems with accellerating. The guy i bought it from said he had recently done head gaskets on it and ive noticed that a lot of other people (on this site and a couple guys i know personally) that have ended up taking the heads off are having the same accellerating problem. Pattern maybe? But anyways it seems to be more of a problem in second and third gear around 2000 to 3000 rpm, just seems like the power is there to get it going but at the same time it just kinda lags. Once it rises above 3500 to 4000 rpms it takes off just fine. Ive been racking my brains for about a month. Ive checked pretty much everything and im dying to know if anyone has overcome this irritating problem yet. Thanks:bawling:

Well.. I just replaced my head and got everything put back together.. I got it started a couple days ago but havent had time to properly set timing and such.... I'll keep an eye for this when I actually get her on the road again though.
