I wouldn't go quite that low, and I wouldn't have that big of rims... but it does make more sense than a lifted 4x2. I have never understood that concept.

Amen brother. It does make sense though for the mileage gain to lower it. Gotta ask yourself though how much gas will you have to buy to get the money back from paying for the lowering kit?

Selling the lift kit would help offset the difference though. I would almost just put it back to stock height... then if you find a buyer for the lift you could just trade parts plus a little extra for the lift.

It's only a body lift, won't get much from selling a used body lift.

Then I would just yank it out and call it a day. Cost would only be the cost of new bolts.

It wont cost me much to lower it, I just have to mess with the torsion bars and buy an Explorer axle for the rear (leafs underneithe) It will be around stock height for awhile though.

Sorry but Chris comes before the Mazda.
And I'm kinda getting tired of breaking everything, stepping into the truck and cleaning it a lot.

Don't go with the bigger wheels if you want MPGs and less breakage.

More mass to the wheel and heavy speed rated ZR tires. Might as well leave the 33"s on it. All that wieght and leverage will still be on the engine and the brakes too, wearing them out faster.

If you really want better MPGs. Swap your 3.0 for a 2.3, use a manual 5sp trans, run a 195/70R14 tire, and leave it stock(2wd) height.

Or buy something else meant to get MPGs, like a KIA. It's a truck, live with it.

**Edit** URK does not support owning a Kia, it was used as an example. And if your willing to get rid of a well-made domestic vehicle, for a go-cart made from the tabs atop his Coors Light cans, He shall just lower his head and quietly think to himself, "Whata dumba$$!".

I agree with urban. But I say buy a cheap beater that gets 30mpg and keep the Mazda. Or sell it and get a car that gets around that.
