will a 2006 ranger 4.0L, m50d-r1hd swap into a 89 ranger with a mitsu 5 speed, 1350 manual shift, 2.9L any differently than a regular m50d-r1 would? what differences are there (if any)? any help is appreciated.

The M5OD-R1HD has the same gear ratios as a regular 4.0L tranny. Any internal differences are unknown to me. The tranny should bolt right up to the 2.9 as the 2.9. 4.0ohv and 4.0sohc all share bellhousing patterns.

My credo
A properly suspensioned Ranger can be safely airborne for up to 4 seconds at a time! =:O
Just curious... how many miles on the '06 m50d-r1hd, and how many $$ for it? Good info to know, thanks in advance,

I believe the -HD variant for 4.0L engines is geared "taller" in 1st (and maybe 2nd?), so your 2.9L might be a little "bogged down" off the line. Search this forum and the tech library.

Of course a supercharger would cure that, lol.
