great build. glad to see your making more progress. i've been thinking about mounting my shocks on the outside of the frame rails similar to your buggy. anyt words of advise? anything to watch for other than standart clearance and compression problems?

I dont think you could mount the shocks outside of the frame rails unless you put them ontop of the spring plates. But then you will have issues with getting a shock in there due to length. Just something you kind of need to look at and measure/piddle with.

Mine worked out so easy because I have fullwidths.

i'll be mounting the leafs under the frame so the outside of the frame will be clear, however i will not have as much room as you due to the body still being mostly intact. guess i'll just play with it as i go!

I started thinking about using grommets for those lines and it seems like that will be pretty tough. Here is an idea, tell me what you guys think. Steel tube, welded into the expanded holes for the lines to pass through, about 1" long maybe?? That will get rid of an edge for them to ride on.

Edit:

Just went out and snapped a few pics of the death spike clearance and although there is always a chance, I think I'm pretty safe from it:

However, I did now notice that i drag the top of my right foot right below that gusset when I get out. So I do need to have situational awareness with that thing now. Its still a badass looking gusset :D

Just pulled it out from its cover too, Should i just go ahead and plate that wiindow thats left open on the cage? (right below gusset)

Pics from tonight:

and my shocks that I aquired for free. Well, traded a little bit of welding for them but well worth it. Also my BTF limit straps for the front that came in the other day.

ha, No KOH. I'm not that much of a rockstar.....yet:headbang:

Like i said.. shocks were basically free, just cost me some of my time, and they should work a whole lot better than the skyjacker nitro's on the front now that overheat.

No concerns on bending the limit strap tab, since its mounted flat against the frame?

I've yet to install limit straps on my rig, and had thought to mount mine the same way you did yours (on the frame end). I was worried about the loading on that bolt/tab.

well, the bolt definitly isnt going to bend or break. I dont think the tab will bend, but even if it does, it will only be slightly and it shouldnt hurt anything. We'll see.

I figured I'd just mount it that way and let it be a 'self positioning' tab. It if bends, it'll be in the direction it needs to so it won't bend anymore :D
