THIS IS WHY I HATE CRAIGSLIST

PREPARE FOR RANT

I messaged the kid to tell him tomorrow may not work because of work. He replied "ok"...few hours later i told him "i just heard from my boss and i can do tomorrow. He asks what time, i told him 4-430. He asks if im sure, i say yes unless something changes.

He then replies "yeah right youre just like the rest"....i replied "i haul milk and the schedule changes alot but im 100% serious"....he then replied "im from mars"...

Now i knew from talking to him on the phone he seemed a bit weird. Nice, but weird. Like...socially akward.

So i replied "look, ill bring cash money and if you got the title notorized ill bring it home"...

Got nothing back.

WTF? Do some of these frickin weirdos have nothing else better to do but sit on CL and post shit just to dick with people?

Im officially DONE with CL. Piss on it. its people like this that turned a good thing into nothing but a cesspool of taco bell shit.

Anyways...thanks for the replies guys...even if they were for nothing.
It goes both ways too; you get the same crap when you are trying to sell something. I am trying to sell a planter on FB.

I need your address so I can look at it (why of course I am going to send you my address while I am at work)
For my safety I am going to send you a code (trying to hack my Gmail account)
Play 50 questions, everything seems positive to get a prompt "I am not interested."
Say they are going to show and don't show.
Drive hours away and then decide they don't want to pull it all the way back home because the thought of how to get a four row planter back home apparently never occurred to them.
Kinda makes $80/ton look appealing after a while...

It's more hit or miss for me, but still a PITA...after the initial tirade of spam/scam asking for weird stuff like confirmation codes so they can steal your number for their spam caller ID, I eventually get actual humans...and by then it's just a matter of sifting the few lookie loos and low ballers until a regular buyer comes through...and it's usually smooth sailing from there. They show up, pay load and go.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Some people are relentless with silly questions.

the grey-t escape
I posted a ad on marketplace for my dads F250, last picture in add is of what he has in the window (year, milage, his phone#). I put in the ad that its his, I know nothing about it- Ive never even drove this one. Every message I get asks me about it, do they not read the ad? and on the flipside- I had someone drive from indiana to buy the hhr (with a broken flexplate) for $600. I figured Id have to pay to have it hauled off.
anyone need a F250 btw? I ageee its overpriced, otherwise it would have sold months ago.

I gave up selling anything awhile ago. I've even had trouble giving things away. I'll just use the stuff until it's no longer usable then off to scrap or trash as needed.

I despise FB and it's marketplace but it is a hot spot for gear; it is nice when I know or can establish a working relationship with individuals, then stick with them instead of every random knucklehead that breaths air.

yeah the 20 questions routine and then not interested. "is it still for sale?" [ad says if it is still up, it is still for sale] "I'll come get it tomorrow" no show. "can you deliver an hour away?" No, I am not Fed-Ex, I have a job that I have to do during the day... "can I just buy the one part of the set? (that makes the rest of the set useless and unsellable) "yes, it costs the same as the whole set, and you get the extra pieces"

I will not sell anything that is worth less than 20 bucks just for the dealing with idiots factor. FB market place is definitely a pain, Nextdoor is a little better, and Craigslist is the one you go to the sale packing the .45 just in case...

It looks pretty clean. If you like it, then it's worth it, even if you have to throw extra money at it.

That's pretty much where I stand on things.

Not as pretty as the other one lol. 300/Auto. A but rusty bodywise but he says frame, floors, etc are solid. Doesnt run currently but had it running last fall and it ran good. He said it ran untill "battery went bad"...either way hes asking 1200 bucks.

Thinking i can clean it up, get it running, maybe make a few bucks on it if i dont like it.

Dudes alot more legit then the other guy lol.

You know, it's funny. There's a lot of different people doing a lot of different things to their Rangers here on this site. Nobody mentions body work. For good reason too. Nobody likes it

Crossed threads are tight threads.
Bodywork and upholstery are the mysterious dark arts to me...Electrical is no fun either.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Electrical requires a certain amount of insanity, bodywork requires a certain amount of alcohol.

Upholstery is somewhat easier.
