well i got my truck back, decided it was time for paint..
Keep in mind im 17 years old and ive NEVER painted a car before.
I wanted something completely different.. no camo, no flat black or primer gray like most everyone does themselves. I went to walmart and picked up a can of rustoleum orange rattle can spray paint, some sand paper, a tack cloth and some masking tape.
We(me and my girlfriend) prepped it all up, layed down a few coats on the bed today and it looked awesome. so we went and picked up 6 more cans for now lol.
I think it looks awesome and unique. And im getting a big "shocker" decal for the quarter panel on the drivers side.
What do you guys think so far??
Were gonna keep working on it tomorrow and try to paint the rest of it while its warm outside.
I think we did pretty good for the first time painting..Plus it will only cost me around $45.00 once its all finished. :headbang:

This is what we started with

This is what we got finished today

Clear coat is one thing you must have. without it, Your paint isn't going to have any protection what so ever. My clear coat is peeling and My paint is starting to fade. Put some pics on here, I wanna see what it looks like lol

Rattle can ain't gonna last too long... But it will look good for a while. There is a reason good automotive paint is over $100 a gallon and why you need a compressor and a quality gun to apply it. Paint booth helps too.

Just today I gunned my fender flairs in black and wouldn't you know it before they got dry one of the palm trees decided to blast open a pollen pod and now I have what looks like snow all over them. Reason for a good paint booth.

But do put up some pics... Would like to see your ideas.

i painted a confederate flag on my other rangers tailgate and i must say.. with no clear coat and A LOT of abuse its held up pretty good.. i cant even count how many times ive backed over huge brush piles, had rocks thrown at my truck when i was pulled out of mud holes, or backed into trees and bushed.. i love rustoleum

I wouldnt bother wasting money on clearcoat for a rattle can paint job..just keep a spare can in the truck for touchups lol.

But a few cans of quality automotive clear coat coat from Pep Boys will put that paint job over the top......

and like you said---a couple sheets of sandpaper/a couple spare cans of orange & clearcoat....that truck will stay looking new or muddy&new!!!
