New ranger 5.4 s/c build and pics

Starting this for my build thread. I have my 2001 ranger, 5.4 s/c lightning motor w/trans, 8.8 explorer 3.73 locker, and lots on order. Pics next.

seems to me to be a quite brilliant idea. personally i like the 5.4L motors

It was the stock block that I took out of my lightning when I put in the Whippled beast. It put down 418hp and 526ftlb at the wheels on pump gas in the L. I hope to be 1200 lbs lighter with the ranger.

That's illegal. You cant put that motor in a 01. 94 is the only compatible year. I'll sacrifice my truck for you to install it in.

I had to use a 98 up donor so I would have control arm suspension rather than I beams. I want this thing light. That is why I killed the aprons and core support. Also changing all the riveted members with welded tubular ones.

Put wheels and tires on to position body and determine desired ride height.now I just need to make it sit like this when it's all together.

very nice. Went to the TX mile a few months back, a guy ran a 1st gen Ranger with a tilt hood, and a 460 punched up even further. Funny, it was his daily driver! I've got some pics but need to re-up to post.

This will be a driver. A/c, 18mpg, wipers, and a cage. But, it will be a driver.
