Here is the link cheapest brand I trust on ROCKAUTO.COM, automatic, 2001 Ranger, 2.5l

This link is the full list of parts from ROCKAUTO.COM. Iam uncertain whether it will open correctly, so here is a pic 🙃. A complete replacement cooling system...The entire recipe.

I tried the JB weld again. Just got inside. It was dark.
I would like to get on Amazon since I have a $50 credit. I am deliberately trying NOT to use my credit cards. I just paid each $200 so I'm very limited on spending.
My biggest question is why don't any radiators have the same plastic part that I'm fixing? They're all rectangular without the black plastic goose neck thingee. Do I buy that separately? Do I even need the rectangular radiator? I'm very confused that I can not find the black plastic part. 🥺

I have the thermostat. I may need another metal gasket? The thing around the hose. I think a little JB weld is on that and the hose.
So I need 2 hoses upper and lower. ✔
Thermostat ✔
Radiator or just the plastic leaking part?? 🥺🥺🥺😞

Is this what you're meaning by "gooseneck", in the red circle? This image is the $79.99 radiator on RockAuto.

The radiator that you buy should look like this one. The black side tanks are plastic, like what you have now. It's not really cost-effective to replace or repair a side tank, so the radiator is replaced as an assembly, just like what you see here.

You might be having trouble seeing the details of the radiator on the web page that you're buying from. See if there are multiple views or zoom functions on the website you're using, so that you can get a better look and be confident before you buy.

It looks like the thermostat uses an o-ring for sealing, in which case you shouldn't need a gasket. If a gasket is needed, it's usually included with a new thermostat. Having said that, I'm not familiar with the newer 2.5L Ranger engine, so if I'm wrong hopefully somebody will jump in and correct me.

The "thing around the hose" is a hose clamp. These generally are reused, unless they're broken. Yours in the pic looked to be in good shape.

Thank you. I will look at the pictures better.
Yes those things! Ok. So they are part of the radiator? Hmm...ok
That's too bad. The black part in the red circle is what I was asking about. That's the broken part. I didn't realize that was a radiator part. I thought it was a cover. 🤭
Ok. So the radiator I want off Amazon (to save $50 spent right now) has a delivery after pre op visit date....that's 😕😔
I've had these appointments set on a waiting list for one year. That's why I'm having such a reaction to time etc. I spent a lot of my own money for this specialist at the U of MN. I just can't see paying that much for just the radiator. $274.88. I have been overcharged many times for auto stuff...mass air flow sensor ..$1000. had to go back 3 times since they used junk, junk return now new. Woops. OT
We can come back to that another time.
I will shop Amazon in am. I'm tired.
I know you all sat rock auto. I would love to buy there but I need to use as little out of pocket money as possible. If something happens with my son I'll need to fly not drive to base.
Thanks so much Robbie. 🙂

Glad to help, and I hope that things work out.

Amazon should have a radiator that works for you for (a lot?) less than $274.88, I would think. I looked at AutoZone, and theirs was around $170 over the counter.

Good luck, and let us know if you have any questions.

What did you think? Did that quote sound high?
It would certainly seem high to me yes. The only ones it would seem ok with are those who have more money and do not want to get their hands dirty

Surgery and appts are 150 miles one way...parts? I'm going to have to order online. I'm 30 miles from closest Walmart. I'm in the middle of nowhere 😔

There are services here, part of medicare or medicaid that assist people with rides to those type appts

Several on this page have web addresses ending with DOT.gov and at least one that's DOT.org you could talk to
Any with like DOT.com are private companies who may not be much help
Thank you. I forgot about the volunteer driver program. I called and it's set!!!
Thank you. Not the best sleep last night but after a little break from this mess I was able to mentally re access priorities and you reminded me of another option. THANK YOU♥

I looked at your Amazon order, and the radiator and both hoses do look correct to me.

Did you ever look into if there are any mobile mechanics in your area?

I did type it in and closest is 84 miles from here. If I typed it right.
For now I'm ok just having the parts ordered. I may have to do it myself due to being financially challenged this month.

Just having the needed parts on hand will put you in a better position.

If you decide to try it yourself, we'll do our best to walk you through it.

It's not really a hard job changing a radiator, both hoses and thermostat, but you will need a few basic tools.
