No Crush Washers on Hydraulic Tensioners?

Hey all! I just finished tearing down my 4.0L SOHC and I am a little stumped on this…. My hydraulic tensioners appear to have no crush washers on them, and neither do the new OEM ford ones. It is possible I took the washers off absentmindedly when disassembling, but I doubt it. Either way, does anyone have any input? Do I need them, do I not, where can I get them, etc.

They do use crush washers. They are very thin, and when oily they stick to the head of the bolt part so they can be hard to see. They are also coated the same as the bolt.

The dealer should have them or be able to get them. Auto parts storrs might have them but I'm not sure. I think my tensioners came with the crush washers. So I didn't have to look for them.

I installed Cloyes tensioners in a few engines and they always came with the washers.

This is exactly what ended up happening. I went back and looked carefully, and can just barely see the washer shape on the shoulder of the hex.

C'mon Ford, could you at least have made the washers silver and not black?
