I was driving home today going a little over 70 and I was looking at my dash and to my disgust I was able to watch my oil pressure gauge drop to zero (or im assuming 0 since its the dummy gauge) then my check gauges light came on so I immediately pulled over and killed it. Looking under the hood all looks well but being on I-94 and having 75mph traffic wizzing by me I opted to just call for a tow. As I was waiting my CD player would come on and go back off and my abs light began flashing. Its at some mechanic right now because I was too far from home to have it towed there. So at this point I am hoping for some small electrical issue. Any thoughts?

The check gauge light will come on whenever your pressure reads too low whether its a mechanical or electrical problem. All it knows is theres a nil reading.

Did it drop all of a sudden or slowly? My oil pressure gauge has a short somewhere and whenever it clicks off it drops down to zero so fast you can hear it tap the bar.

Sounds to me like you have a lectric problem and NOT a oil pressure problem.

Well as crappy as that is you were smart and didn't just keep driving like most people do, it may cost you some money but im sure its nothing compared to replacing the whole motor.
