Had the Check Engine light come on yesterday, so I hooked up my code reader and got a P0401 code. Figured it was the DPFE sensor like last time. So went to Oreilly's to get one, as I did the last time I replaced it. They didn't have them in stock, so went to Advance next... same thing. Finally to Auto Zone and the very same thing. Finally asked why and well i'll be darned... the DPFE sensor is now a dealer-only item.
I absolutely DREAD going to the dealer to get one... Wonder who was the genius that decided to stop retailing them at auto parts sores?
*ETA- Did a little searching on Ebay, and then found one for $20 on Rockauto.com. Played it safe and bought 2.
However I took the existing one off and brought it inside for refrence, then put it back on and just for the hell of it, cleared the code. Took the truck for a 5 mile drive and the light stayed off... knock on wood.
