I'm look at getting a locker just wondering if it is worth the extra dollars for the no-slip?

Get yourself an Aussie Locker.

I second that, best bang for the buck. The extra cost of a no-slip is not worth it IMO. Of course, if you have a factory L/S, the no-slip is the only way you can go with out getting a full carrier replacement locker (Detroit,ARB).

I hate to hack threads...

up here in the winter, there's ice and there's some snow, and ALOT of rain. Having a manual transmission, how 'smart' is it to install a lock right or aussie in my rear? should i just settle for a limited slip unit?

You will have to relearn how to drive as it is different, but it is manageable.

Ive heard mixed opinions and searched threads hi and low. My concensus is that it will "behave" like a locker and never let you forget its back there. Im going truetrac from detroit but I have to replace the whole carrier, if I didnt I might have got the no slip. I will also throw a Aussie in up front when I can

I spent a lot of time in snow, mainly very hard pack snow which is nearly like ice last winter. It wasn't hard to control in 2wd at all, of course you can easily make it oversteer if you want to, and if you're going up a hill and don't have enough traction you'll start to kick the ass end out, in those situations I used 4wd (open front last winter) and it drove totally normal with no oversteer and it never felt unsafe. Not to mention it was much more capable.

I've never had any trouble or problems with my "No-Slip" in the Winter, just bought another one for the 4x2.

Thanks guys. I've got a minispool in the chevy(aka my hot rod) and it was fun to play with in the rain with no power steering and had the good old lincoln locker in my toyota...was just curious about these better units in a ranger. Screw it, i'll learn to drive with it. lol.
