Just wondering what it would cost to get my head gaskets replaced.

Also was wondering how difficult it would to replace it myself.

All help is appreciated

If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.

Basic wrench turning skills maybe a little more replace valve gaskets on my 5.0. And as for time frame, I can take time off figure at least three days.

I am not scared to jump in. Dad is a seasoned gear head from back in the day.

its about an 8 hour job not counting the time to get the heads fluxed, if that is a 92 4.0L then it iss a good idea to get the heads fluxed. I am guessing on the time, Thats what it took me on a 289 the first time i did it.

if you have never done this with an EFI engine, get/barrow/use a digital camera and take pictures of where everything goes as you are taking it off. Or tape it with masking tape and label it. I keep masking tape and a sharpie in my tool box.

Well if anyone wants to know, it turned out to be a intake gasket. about 450 total for repairs. Then when I got it back spent another 130 bucks for an alt. but that is how things go.

My rule of thumb is if I don't feel right off the bat deciding "Yea, I can do this" don't. I have seen way too many people get in over their heads with a repair, get angry and it snowballs from there. I had the classic #5 cylinder plug foul 5 years ago and decided right off the bat this was way over my head. Took it to a mechanic I trust and got it fixed right the first time.

I envy anyone who can dive right in and fix what needs to be done but way too many wrench heads get in too deep before they know it.
