What are the dangers of reusing the gasket for the IAC? I want to take the IAC off to clean it and see if thats why the idle keeps popping up but none of the auto parts stores around me have one. They would have to order and they said it would take 3 to 7 days.

Mine have always come off in good enough condition to re-use. You can always buy a roll of gasket material and just cut your own.

Worst case is you get a vacuum leak and your idle still sucks.

Reusing it is 50/50, I tried to reuse an upper/lower intake gasket before, and it leaked all holy hell. But I have reused an IAC gasket before that worked out fine. When you're done, spray some carb cleaner around the mounting area and see if the idle surges to verify that it's not leaking. FWIW

Thanks, I reused the gasket but I will try the carb cleaner test. :icon_hornsup:

Seems like the old gasket works but my idle is still staying up when I come to a stop and then dies down. Do I need to clean the IAC better or should I look at something else? It seems like it is sitting at high idle. Even in this weather I start it and it sits at high idle for a while.

I replaced the pcv when I cleaned the IAC. I let it sit all weekend and when I took it to work this morning it seems the idle is sticking worse. :icon_confused:

I had the same issue with mine, and I soaked the IAC for about 30minutes in throttle body cleaner. I just filled it with fluid, and let it sit. after that, I drained it, and shot it some more to blow out all the loose stuff. that took care of the high idle.

now I have an issue where it won't idle untill it warms up...:icon_confused:

I got my iac gasket from rockauto.com I think it was less than a buck. When I took it off though the gasket was in pristine condition and I probably could've reused it...but I had the new one so I just threw it on there.
