RPMs wont drop

I have a 99 Ranger 5 speed 4.0 4x4.when you come to a stop and put the the clutch in the rpms come down real slow and finally stop at 1200 rpm.and the same when your drivin goin up in gears it stays up until u put it into gear.so it almost kinda slips the clutch when you go up in gears.I just dont understand why it takes the rpms so long to drop cause I know its not good on my clutch.Thanks

You say it won't idle under 1200? How many miles are on the motor/truck? Have you fixed anything yet? Any check engine lights? My suggestions would be Idle Air Control (IAC) or Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). You might have your computer checked anyway if it has a code stored in it from a check light. Auto Zone does it for free.

it in traffic it wont go below 1200 unless u sit there 4 a minute but it will stay at 1200 for a good 15 secs untilu stop and wait 4 it to come down.no check engine lite it has 112000 miles.Kand N Full intake with throttle body spacer.thanks guys.where are these sensors on my 99.

Might want to pull the MAF sensor out of and clean the K&N filter oil off of it. Those filters are known to foul up sensors from the oil they have in them.

Any number of things could cause this. Anything from Throttle Position Sensor, Idle Air Control, Coolant Temp Sensor.

Like mentioned, take it and have the codes read.

Even if no check engine light appears, it may have a code stored in it. Take it to Auto Zone, they'll test it for free. Dealer may test it for free also. As for the location of your parts, I'm not totally sure where they are on your year, but I think they are generally in the same locations' as the rest of them. Your Mass Air Flow (MAF) will be near your air filter on the stock setup, not sure with the aftermarket setup. The TPS is usually attached to the throttle body, IAC will be somewhere on the upper intake plenum, CTS will be on lower intake plenum. If you go to Auto Zone and get your computer read, pick up a haynes or chilton repair manual. They're very handy for all your needs in repairs.
