Hmm those look like they hand down a bit too low for my liking..and the caster I built into them.

Alrighty...just got back in from the shop....didn't get to the mounts tonight..but I got an Idea after talking with 4x4junkie...we'll see how it pans out.

So what I got done tonight was the boxing and bracing of the back side of the radius arms. Really wishing I could afford a plasma cutter...cutting 1/4" plate with a 5" grinder is getting old fast lol.

Here we go...arms are officially done.

Also got the factory radius arm cross member and drop brackets out tonight, alas! The pegleg ranger!

I won't get back at this again till Sunday night...gonna be out camping all weekend!

Not sure if I'm going to reuse the stock on..maybe modify it a bit or make a new one that integrates into the brackets...I got some tube and square tube kicking around to make something if I need it.

As a fellow fabricator and welder, might I say that I have not laid eyes on such awesome welds and craftsmanship like yours in a long time! :icon_thumby:

It is a steep price to buy a Miller 375 Xtreme, but trust me when I say that it is worth every single penny. Lightweight(weighs as much as a loaded lunch box), either 110V or 220V thanks to the multiplug, many optional tips including the drag tip, internal pressure regulator AND water separator, the list goes on for the $1200 unit.

But welders like us get the job done one way or the other. For the longest time, I was using a 4 1/2" grinder as my cutting tool, and I still do for some little stuff.

Those arms aren't going anywhere, that's for sure!! :icon_thumby::icon_welder:

Thank you very much!

I must say that's good to hear coming from someone who does this for a living! Makes me feel pretty good as I've got zero formal welding training, and am completely self taught. I'm running a Lincoln MigPak 180 in the shop at home. Seems to handle the 1/4"plate with zero problems.

Alright...spent the better part of the day in the shop...got the brackets mostly done. Just need to cut and modify the stock transmission crossmember to fit and bolt between the mounts I built. Here's the pics from todays work.

I'm going to weld the flat steel onto the ends of the factory crossmember after cutting it to fit between the mounts, then the crossmember will bolt onto the radius arm brackets. I'm using 3 factory holes on each side of the frame rails to bolt the brackets to, and will have to drill 2 holes per side into the bottom lip of the frame rails to bolt the bottom of the brackets to the frame. Any questions, feel free to ask!
