Right now I live in a suburb of New Orleans, LA. I was getting off the freeway the other day when I saw this Ranger in the other lane; we were passing him but I told the driver to slow down. I just had to take the picture and post it here.
THis might start another
"What have you towed with your Ranger" thread w/pics.

Btw I have a Ford Freestar and just for referrence went home and looked at the GVWR sticker on the door.
5780 lbs plus the trailer weight. That Ranger can't be more than a 2.9.

GVWR is not curb weight, not even close. That number is what the total vehicle weight is allowed. That is, curb weight + cargo + passengers = no more than GVWR. A Freestar weighs 4200lbs.

Since it looks like it is on the bumpstops it is water under the bridge...

Apparently 4200lbs+trailer is too much for a 2wd first generation Ranger. :icon_idea:

Well, that's a given. But 4200 is easier to pull than 5700. I've pulled over 12,000 with a 1990 4wd with a 2.9 and a 5-speed. It didn't do bad at all, but I kept it under 35 and avoided going downhill. Truck had good brakes and actually stopped it better than I expected.

Naw......not one bit of overload. That is the common way in any of the states to drive a truck hauling and towing anything.

looks as if he could of had the minivan more towards the rear of the trailer to make less tongue weight, thats what he should of done. To much tongue weight or to much tail end weight on a trailer can cause it to want to fishtail. He's either very stupid or on a death wish with Satin.

Holy crap. I hope that trailer has electric brakes hooked up.

A long time ago I was pulling a Uhaul trailer with my '83 Ranger when I was moving (Ranger was still stock). The thing was packed with furniture including a sofa bed. No electric brakes. It kept wanting to sway and scared the crap out of me. I thought the thing was going to flip me over.

I think some people think that because it's a 'truck', it can haul whatever you put behind it.
