my shifter has been having some problems over the last few months, it started when a particular shop started manhandling it, and it would pop out of alignment or something, and not work properly. A couple different shops have always seemed to be able to fix it really quickly and easily, but now the truck is stuck at my house, and I've got the boot cover plate off and would like to try to figure out how to fix it myself, but I can't figure it out.
Here's the inside of the shifter:
and here's the pin with a spring around it that I found laying inside:
if anyone could offer me some guidance I'd be much appreciative, thanks y'all.
