im planning on doin a solid axle to my ranger(dana 44 Front & Ford 9in rear) was wonderin what you guys thought about the transmission and transfer case in there already. 1988 four cylinder 2.3, gonna use some really low gears and try to run 37s, if not plausible then 35s. if this transmission and case arent enough, what would you guys suggest

D30 + 37s?? I see a broken ring gear in the very near future with that combo.

As for the transmission & case, nothing to worry about there, both are pretty stout on that truck (assuming it's the M5OD stickshift, and not an automatic).

I'd run a 8.8" rear axle over a 9", the frictional losses in the 8.8 are significantly less at the ratio needed for that size tire (with the 4cyl engine, you'll want to get all the power you can to the rear wheels).
