Ok guys and gals,
I have a 98 4.0 4x4 Danger Ranger that is running 35" tires with torsion bar bolts ran up with about 1/2 to go before maxed out, and a 3" body lift everything else is factory. So here's the problem when I'm going down the road and hit a bump all of the sudden my passengers side front tire starts rubbing something and it's almost at the top of the tire. I pull over and look and there is nothing that is out of place no wheel rocking, lug nuts are tight, everything seems to be in place but you can see where it is rubbing on the tire. So hop in truck and take off it's gone no more rubbing 1 mile down the road same thing so I go back through it and cant find anything wrong take it home jack it up take both front tires off everything looks to be the same on both sides nothing looks bent or out of place pull push mess around with everything and can find anything. So drive it again same thing but instead of checking anything I just stop and take of and it's gone, so it keeps doing it and getting worse, I stop it fixes itself then I take off, it happens I stop it fixes itself I take off. So hum what the hell is this, is it my front axle sliding out allowing the tire to lean and touch the control arm, are the wheel bearings going out? I do not know is there anything a 1 man show can try and do to figure this out ? Thanks in advance!

Forgot to tell you it has 1 1/2" spacer on it.

Fender splash shield maybe... missing the front push pin or shield is torn.

Right...

I'm not talking the inner fender... I'm talking about the shield that connects to the inner fender and hangs down to the frame rail.

Makes sense that when moving forward... wind blows the front of the shield into the tire.

But it's only a guess...

There should be a shiny spot on the truck where it rubs.

Try pulling that splash shield away and look on the backside of it.

Looks like it's rubbing on the sway bar... but it should only do that at full left turn.

Well the tire rub is from the sway bar and the frame.

You are perhaps hearing something else.

Put you jack under the lower control arm and jack it up until the tire comes off the ground. That unloads all the balljoints and wheel bearing. Block the wheels and use a jack stand for saftey sakes. Check fir looseness in the wheel bearing... ball joints... bushings.
