I have a 2000 Ranger XLT. I'm in the process of sourcing parts to customize the ext lights.

I have found a very nice set of headlights. The include an LED strip of lights along the inner edge, by the grill. I would like to have these automatically engage when the truck is shifted from park. Does anyone know of a shift from park circuit that is closed out of park but is open when in park? I want to treat them as daytime running lamps.

No there isn't a wire like that

The DTR sensor on the drivers side of transmission does tell Computer when transmission is NOT in Park, so in gear
But it uses 5volt pull down circuit, not good for adding relays

On the right of diagram is the DTR sensor wiring

Grey/red wire is used for ALL sensors, its a Reference Ground, the light blue/yellow wire is connected to the grey/red wire in Park but not for R, N or D
Might be able to use that but not sure how to build that circuit to activate a relay

You could install a switch on the shifter in the column or on the side of the transmission, Park is at one end so it closes or opens the switch, your choice on what switch to use, and that activates the LED relay
