Anyone know if my 88' BII had a speed sensor? Haven't seen much in the tech articles about them, but I believe I am having issues with sensors and a speed sensor may explain some things since the previous owner swapped the current FM145 in place of the factory automatic. Autozone will sell me one for $15.99, which is what made me question it's existence with the EEC-IV in the first place...

It's certainly possible there was a speed sensor as part of your speedometer drive gear assembly (I know '89-'94 trucks have this).
If there's a two-prong electrical plug hanging down there by your t-case (besides the one for your dash indicator lights if you have a manual case), that's probably it.

There's also an ABS sensor in the stock rear axle (top of the diff housing), though I don't think this one ties into the EEC at all.

I can tell you that my '88 Ranger has a speed sensor in the transfer case. I can't see why the B2 would be different.

It's a very easy thing to miss. It's right on the end of the speedometer cable.

Yeah, it's there. Just not sure what it's telling what! I'm getting a stumble... A very noticeable stumble only when engine is up to temp and usually while it's under load. While it's under load, it's moving. I don't think the speed sensor is my issue though, unfortunately. I think there's a demon in the electrical :-(
