Anyone on here ever put a stepside gen.3 and up bed on a 1st gen.? I was wondering how it might look. I know that the frame bolt holes are the same but what about the filler tube and taillights etc.?

It would bolt up, yes, but would look like absolute hell...

There are pics on here somewhere of a regular 93+ bed on an 83-92, but I'm not sure where.

The newer beds are wider that the older trucks/ beds, so you will have a bed that is wider than the truck. But if that floats your boat, then by all means, go ahead.

I mean the splash bed, its step side isn't it a little skinnier? Just wondering, throwing some ideas around... :)

The outsides of the fenders and the overall width would still be wider though, if that's true.

Yeah, the actual tops of the bedisdes might be the same width (I'm not saying they are), but the bottoms of the bedsides/ fenders would still stick out.
If that is making any sense.

I had a Ranger 5.0 eight or so years back and wanted to do the same thing you are suggesting but not with the Splash Bed.
I contacted a company called "California Customs", at the time the company was hard to located and may even not be there but Google them and see and then Google "Custom Truck Bed".

Cal Customs has a bed like in the pic of the squared off fender step side bed, that would be the best choice if you can find one.

I do not remember where or the site but when I was looking for my latest Ranger (2003 Edge) I found an older Ranger with a step side bed, wasn't interested so I did not book it. The idea is the beds are our there either as a piece part or maybe on an older Ranger being sold for parts or as a repairable.

Luck on the search, take your time, you may get lucky and find one.
