With my truck off I'm pulling 1.4x amps. Pull the radio fuse I'm down to .4x amps ,the dome .25.

More frequently than I'd like my battery is dead w/ 6 month old optima & alltenator.

Could my stock radio be the issue or should I be looking elsewhere? Mostly stock, alarm & remote start, which I don't have fobs to.

:dunno:

i dont think its the stereo, is your hood light staying on? start checking various lights around the truck. also have your alternator checked. it might not be fully charging you battery. check battery connections. check everything under the hood that connects to the battery. report back after all this has been done.

This is on the 2000 ranger? Are you letting it sit with the key out and doors closed for about 10-15minutes before checking for a draw? If not the battery saver relay hasn't kicked in yet.

Check the simple shit.

Make sure your belts are tight. - Was killing my bud's Mazda 323 w/ brand new battery

Make sure your battery terminal cables are tight. A loose ground can mess things up.

This is what I'm thinking. Where would I look for an aftermarket alarm in a 2000 Ranger (to get rid of it.).

New optima, new belt , new alternator (twice), cables are tight.
