Is it worth it? There's no replacement for displacement! Seriously though, if you want to build up a 4.0L yea, it's worth it... There's alot easier (and cheaper) ways to make MORE power (V8), but that sure ain't as neat as a built 4.0L...

i thought i remember hearing someone saying that the 4L block is thin enough as is but if you were to bore the cylinders it makes it even thinner...i'm not sure who or where i heard that but i am also interested in hearing prices and availability of any kits or just knowing what you do.

ok....so that shows my newbness...i thought that a stroker was bored out. So a stroker exactly is what? Some kind of spacer between the head and block to give more compression and a longer stroke?

it would be sweet and one of a kind. it would be like a bullet. i want to that but the money to have the 4.0 all redone will cost more than putting a 302 in(depends). but if you would that would be sweet! but who makes the parts for the 4.0's? i would like to install a small cam until i can go all out

now is any kind of stroker cranks mass produced for these 4.0's because it may be something i would look into. my 2.3t is getting to the point were im unsure on how to make more power out of a ranger. my 4.0 4x4 has bolt ons but i think a big upgrade is up next.

In a word, NO.

Even if someone made such a thing by the time you were done it'd still be cheaper and easier to go with a 5.8.

And No, a 5.0 isn't the answer to "more torque" in a Ranger.

The problem with a 5.0 is that it has to rev like a 3,0 to make it's power.

Yeah, you'd also need a bigger trans, different T-case modified drivelines, but face it, if you need the "extra power" you need all that stuff anyway.
