Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.

He didn't actually ask a question so I assumed he was just looking for a sympathetic ear. :dunno:
If he really wanted sympathy, don't you think he would have looked for it in the dictionary?

I'll be a little kinder to you than I was in my other reply on this thread. :yahoo:

I would suggest that the problem could be one of four things: Blown fuse (but something else would also not be working), bad bulbs (tail light bulbs have two filaments in them. One for the tail lights, one for the break lights), faulty brake light switch (seems likely, since you tested it with a test light, and the light didn't light), or faulty wiring somewhere.

We may never know how deep the ocean of sorrow in his heart truly is... It is our duty as his fellow man to offer our ears and our support during this dark time.

Get it... "Dark time"... See what I did there... You know, cause he has no brake lights. :idiot:

Bulbs are good so I’m thinking a bad brake light switch or start tracing wires right?

I’m not asking for sympathy folks. Just trying to figure out why my brake lights and emergency flashers don’t work.

The tail lights come on but when I press the brake they don’t come on.

If the turn signals in the rear work it is likely the brake switch does the cruise control work? It also goes through the btrake switch.

Cruise cancel does goes through the brake switch but a non functioning brake switch (always open) would still leave cruise active. It would just rely on abs and tps for cancel. If the cruise cant read the brake switch it just assumes you didnt hit the brake. Its not a sensor, just an on/off switch. Nothing to stop the cruise from functioning.

Do your signal lights work? The back ones, I mean.... Does everything else that goes through that fuse work?

Hmm... Did you by any chance tell us what year the truck is? That will help us to help you figure out whether you have a blown fuse. But, really, your owner's manual will have a listing of what is on each fuse, so check there, and then pull that fuse and make sure it's good.

I see it, there. 1989. That means I have the list of fuses for your truck. The fuse you're looking for is diagonally opposite to the turn signal flasher (big round thing). Also on that circuit are your 4 way flashers and speed control inhibit (cancel?). Check that fuse. Something tells me you'll find the problem right there.
