I am purchasing a 96 Windstar with a 3.8 that needs head gaskets, but I found a low mileage 93 Taurus motor also with a 3.8. Can I just pull all the accessories and stuff off of the taurus motor and bolt onto the Windstar? Also, which way does the engine come out of the Windstar? top or bottom?

I believe the blocks are the same, and it comes out the bottom with the transaxle

Yeah, the Windstars you have to pretty much dismount the sub-frame I belive. Or maybe I'm thinking of a different "star" van if ford had another one.

My credo
the grey-t escape
i think the windstar is based off the taurus platform, some front drives drop the whole front subframe with motor/trans to change engines. i know thats what we did with a '84 tempo.
