DEARBORN, Mich., June 3, 2021 – Months of rumors, spy shots and speculation have all led to this moment. It’s true – Ford is adding an all-new compact pickup to the lineup, and it’s called Maverick.

Bringing a rebirth of a classic name and the creation of a new choice for truck customers, the all-new Ford Maverick makes its debut on June 8 with the help of actress Gabrielle Union. She will show-off the all-new truck on her own Instagram and TikTok channels, on Ford’s social channels as well as on Hulu. The Maverick will be Ford’s first vehicle to debut on its new U.S. TikTok channel.

Get a closer look of the all-new Maverick on June 8 at ford.com.

It should be interesting but may be able to fill in niche for certain folks. I’m assuming it’s car based like the bronco sport.

It's fwd and has the super antiquated solid i-beam rear suspension, so it's WAY more car based than the little bronco.. which is based off an suv.

Which SUV is the bronco sport based on? I’m pretty sure the escape was a Ford focus but I’m not sure about the bronco sport.

Im pretty sure it's not "based" on anything. It's its own new platform.

8 June is the big unveil by Ford. Lots of leaked stuff on YouTube.

Interesting they're bringing back a small pick up. Cue the rest of the imitators.

I read it was based on the escape.. which I guess is more of a crossover than a true suv but still

I read "antiquated" and "i-beam" and got all excited there for a bit... :no2:

Pretty sure it is Escape based like the Bronco but probably with more alterations.

Antiquated is good. That means cheap... which is what this thing should be.

I went in the twin i beam direction...

In all seriousness though this thing would make a lot more sense to buy a full electric version of than the F-150.

Good point on the electric thing since from what I understand this thing is suppose to mainly be marketed as a fleet type delivery vehicle. But that may raise the price beyond what the target market (cheapskate companies) are willing to pay.

A 1.6L or 2.0EB is alot cheaper than an EV setup...

But you gotta admit the specs on the lightning are pretty insane...

This thing is small enough you could plug 2 Milwaukee M18 battery packs into it in the morning, than pop them out to recharge when you get home.
