So the 2.3L likes to run hot, 195 degrees is what Lima said. I got a new thermostat, but I got whatever one that had.

It's small...... like... tiny... is it supposed to be tiny or am I just used to bigger trucks with big thermostats... (wow that wasn't an induendo at all.)?

On the other hand, I use my turning signal when changing lanes and turning. And in turn I get angry and have horrible road rage when other people don't use their signals and almost cause wrecks.. and I just got pulled over for not using my signal EARLY enough to get in the turning lane. ARE FREAKING KIDDING ME! OMFG! SOFA KING STUPID!

Stocker should be 192* IIRC.

As for the size of it...not too sure what small means to you, but they aren't huge?

You got it from a parts store for you application?

if it fits in the hole it should be fine, if you don't trust the termostat, stick it in a pot on the stove with a candy thermometer and watch the temperature it opens at, should be ~192*F

Gee, yours runs hot? I can't get mine to even warm up to 100 unless i'm floored on the highway for a couple minutes, although mine has a couple (LOTS) of problems, and yes the thermostats could be considered small if your used to tinkering with bigger motors.

In all my rides the thermostats are not very big. They do the job very well. Don't worry about it!!!

It is small...when I changed mine recently I doubted that it would fit...but the housing is narrower on the inside and there is a bit of a lip that it sits on...as long as it has the retainer clips on the side it should work fine...and takes less than an hour to change...

go girl...

Compared to what would be in a 7.3 or a 6.0 it will be tiny.

I just it was just weird seeing such a tiny thermostat.. the one I changed out in my 2000 Hyundai Elantra was almost twice the size. I'll post up pictures when I get a moment to beg my mom to let me use our tiny garage to change it... although it has warmed up to 13 degrees above, and should get up into the 20s this week, so I might as well go do it outside.

Thanks.

I am so not moving to Alaska. I put off putting the trans back in my B2 (a job I very much want to get done) because it was only in the 40's this weekend.

It was almost 70 here yesterday, really nice getting the Ranger out and driving around with the window down. Usually we are more like what it sounds like they are getting in Alaska though... I am going to take it and run. :yahoo:

It was almost 60 today. I could have worked on it today. Too dark by the time I got home though.

Yeah, isn't this great? And supposed to be in the mid-50s again the next 2 days. I might get those bumpers built sooner than originally planned. :icon_welder:

I put the Ranger in a tent my brother gave me. On the end nearest my shop, I put a storm door on. The truck is up on blocks on pieces of scrap plywood. Then I carpeted it. I ran power to it ,even used a GFCI pigtail. I have a table for the tools. No heat, but it is out of the wind and dry. I can dress for cold. Fact is , I am doing the job because it is too cold to paint the house.
