I need to know if after I install a 4" rough country lift on my sons 89 will 33X12.50 tires on stock rims rub? The wheels we have are from a mid 90's ranger.

Jay - Thanks for the reply. That was the exact information I was looking for. Will go with 31's.

Baxtej44 - no offense taken.

I dont know what kind of research they did on that chart but i just put 305/70r16(about 33x12.5) on a 87 with 4" lift. I only had to take a 2x2 inch notch out of the front fender, no biggie.

It seems to be different in every case. I have a 6" suspension lift and no body lift, and I had to do major cutting around the front and back bottom section of each fender when I was running 32's. 33's put me to the point where I had to cut 2" up into the fender all the way around, and redid my plastic inner wheel wells. But I am running 33x12.50x15s on 15x8s with 3.25" backspacing.

31's on stock 15x6 Ranger steelies didn't rub at all.

just looked and it says you have a 2 wheel drive, which changes things...

you might be able to clear 32's with 4" of lift on a 4x2, 31's will clear fine with minimal rubbing on a stock '89-92 4x4

Doing the infamous 4wd conversion at the same time. So what we will end up with is an 89 4x4 standard cab long bed with a 4" suspension lift.

Sorry for the confusion.

like swapping the frame the easy way or swapping the cross member the hard way? or just throwing in a straight axle

with 4" of lift on a second gen 4x4 33's should fit fine, I'm planning on running them with around 3" of lift, but I don't have the stock front bumper to get in the way (I'm going to space the front axle as far forward as I can)

I don't aree with that chart either I had 32x11.50-15s on a '86 4x4 with only a 3" body lift with no rubbing what so ever with factory wheel wells. This includes flexing and full locked steering.

i had an 87 ranger, the motor was sick but still ran, i put a 4 inch lift on it, and i was actually running 36s. they did rub quite a bit, but i just trimmed the bottom corner of the fender and the plastic valance on the front. Dont get me wrong it would probably have rubbed like hell while flexing, but just sitting there it looked like a stomper heh.
