my 83 ranger has been giving me issues since i pulled the transimission and replaced a couple parts. nothing was done to the transmission, the rear main seal was replaced and the oil pan gasket. but ever since the trans was pulled out, it has been very difficult to get the truck into first gear. it drives fine but you have to push really hard to get into first gear, which wasn't an issue before we pulled the trans, it has also been grinding when you put it into third. any ideas of what the problem may be?
the clutch isn't the issue i don't think, it doesn't lunge forward whenever it finally hits first gear so the clutch is fully engaged.

When you disconnected and reconnected the slave a little bit of air probably got in the end of the line there. Bleed it a couple times it'll probably fix it. If not then you disturbed the slaves sacred resting ground and are going to have to pay for it now...by replacing it.
