So i posted a few months ago about my 92' 2.3 ranger not wanting to crank when cold. I fixed it by cleaning out the entire intake system and it was fine. Now it doesnt wanna crank when its cold outside(below 40). It turns over nicely and tries to fire right up but immediately chugs like crazy and usually shuts off. If i hold the gas down it'll go on the second or third try and runs great. If its warmed up itl crank right up and if its above 40 degrees out itl fire up just fine too. The only code its throwing is an evap code. Im having a brain fart at the moment but doesnt the computer only use one coil pack on startup? Would holding the gas pedal down change to open loop(or closed whichever it is) allowing both or the other coil pack to assist? Or is it just adding fuel(dont think injection does that)or dropping vacuum or what. Basially im trying to remember what happens during startup that pushing the gas pedal with fuel injection allows it to crank. Im trying to figure out what to look for first and im having early onset CRS. I checked plugs and wires and they're good and as i said once its goin it runs like a top so its something happening on start up in cold weather lol. Can a coilpack expand and contract enough to maybe cause a short on cold morning startups? Cant remember how to check for that either..... thanks in advance for the help guys.
