1985 Ford Ranger 2.3L EFI wont start!!! I changed time belt and the marks are dead on. Getting good spark on sprark tester. The truck had been setting a while and the tank sending unit & pump were ruined so I changed the fuel tank, sending unit, tank fuel pump & fuel filter. I hear the the high pressure pump coming when I engage the key, but the new tank fuel pump is not priming the filter canister. I replaced the fuel pump relay but still no rail pressure. Any sugestions or past experiences would be great.

The in tank pump and high pressure pump get power from the same line, it comes from the inertia switch in passenger foot well or kick panel.

The in tank pump was used with carbs so that is the main power line, the harness line
They just spliced into that line to get power for the high pressure pump, splice is near the high pressure pump.
That splice has been known to corrode, causing in tank or high pressure pump to stop.
Should be a Pink/Black wire by this diagram:

If you hear the pump run it should be producing pressure. I would be looking into the tank making sure the filter "sock" isn't somehow clogged and that it has enough fuel level to pick up gas. if u were very careful, I'd try removing the line right at the tank and turn the key on to see if gas shoots out. If it does be looking for a clogged line, if not the pump or checkball has to be bad.
