Vehicle laws in Indiana?

I'm curious about getting my beloved Death-Trap on the road in Indiana. I currently live in Michigan but I'm finding many applications for careers in Indiana.

Are there inspections? (if so then I'm pretty much SOL..)

Anything else they get cranky about modification wise?

There are no inspections in Indiana. Some, but very few counties, require a smog (vet) test.

All you have to do to get it road worth if it was last registered in another state is have either the county Sheriff or a state police officer inspect it. That consist of them running it to make sure it isn't stolen and it is your vehicle.

I hear they do smog on the eastern side near Gary, IN - more over by Chicago. You really wouldn't want to go there regardless.

I am in Northeast, IN, really not that far from the Michigan border. No emission testing here.. I had a '85 Grand Prix with a 327 and never was messed with. I think if they did start testing, a good percentage of the population here would be two footing it.

Both of my cars have the cats hollowed out. Reason being the way I have my cam timing set gives the car a lope at idle (retarded the exhaust cams 13 degrees, makes it pull really good almost to the 7,150 rpm redline) and it made the catalyst in my poor old cats break loose, so I hollowed them out because the rattling sound got really irritating after a while. Also the EGR valves have been shut off in the computer (digital EGR) for years in both. Never any problems from any police about anything like that in North Central (Elkhart) Indiana, just speeding tickets :dunno:

Yes, right in the middle of it :D.

I have some family that used to live in Jeffersonville, been there a few times to watch the fireworks over the Ohio river. Very cool stuff. Ironically, I think that they currently live in the same city as you now.
