I have a 99 Off Road Ranger with 4.0 OHV engine. I have 103K miles and more than likely one of my heads is cracked. I intend to change both heads to aftermarket.

My question is should I change the timing chain and water pump since I have part of the engine apart anyway and 103K miles ?

It probley wouldn't be a bad idea. I changed the water pump on my 4.0 that I dropped in my B2 before installing because the motor had 150,000 miles and was still on the original pump. It gave me a nice peace of mind afterwards.

I am sold on a new water pump.

With 104k miles, should I do the timing chain ?

Are you going to be doing this with the engine in the truck. If it were me and I had the time and money I would go ahead, pull the engine and replace the timing chain while I replaced the heads in a much better postion:blush:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Timing chains should outlast the engine. You replace them when you rebuild the engine. They are NOT wear items like timing belts. Inspect them, perhaps.
